Spider-Man video games continue to evolve, offering players more freedom than ever and offering options that make gameplay simpler than ever before.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will build on everything the first game, featuring Miles Morales as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, introduced, including new gadgets and abilities such as his Symbiote suit symbiote suit.

Though veteran players might enjoy trying all this new content, casual audiences might find it too complicated as combat already requires perfect timing and gadget management on higher difficulties.

Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered included accessibility features designed to address these concerns, such as automatically progressing through Quick Time Events (QTEs), using toggle controls instead of holding down triggers when aiming, and bypassing puzzles altogether.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 plans to expand this list with additional options designed to provide an enjoyable gaming experience to a wider range of players.

New features of note include: @Audio: With screen reader support, all on-screen text in menus will be read aloud aloud for convenience.

Captions: Cinematic scenes feature on-screen captions and audio descriptions that can provide additional context.

Gameplay: you have the option of slowing the action down by 70%, 50% or 30% at any given moment and switching back at any point to regular speed if desired.

Combat speed reduction can be an invaluable feature for players that struggle with fast-paced action. It opens more opportunities to effectively counter enemies, plan your moves and generally make the experience less daunting, particularly as enemies become tougher and more plentiful as the game goes along. Furthermore, this could possibly apply for boss fights which often present new players with challenges.

It’s wonderful that Insomniac Games took such great strides to make Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch for PlayStation 5 on 20th of October 2023.
