Call of Duty fans could not be happier that Call of Duty’s popularity remains strong and won’t soon disappear from our lives! As true supporters of the series, fans love it even more than before!

Since its release on PC back in 2002, Call of Duty has quickly become one of the premiere military shooters, providing both exciting single-player campaigns as well as robust multi-player features.

2009’s Call of Duty: World at War introduced zombies into its franchise for the first time, via wave-based mode in co-op players’ cooperation to advance through its campaign while fighting off increasingly larger hoards of undead monsters as each wave went by.

Modern Warfare III marks a return to tradition this year for Call of Duty fans with its annual release tradition; marking its third installment since Modern Warfare came out back in 2019. CharlieIntel revealed via Twitter fan account CharlieIntel that Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Beenox Raven High Moon demonware are all helping Sledgehammer Games create Modern Warfare III; my initial thought might be too many people have contributed their expertise – yet all these entities could serve an important purpose!

Previous Call of Duty entries have included single-player campaigns, traditional multiplayer modes, Zombies and Warzone as part of a single purchase game while Warzone was free-to-play. But could Zombies becoming free-to-play open the way for its traditional multiplayer to follow suit and become free-to-play as well? After all, Halo Infinite features both modes but their story campaign remains paywalled; similarly on Reddit users have speculated why so many developers were employed on Modern Warfare III development; perhaps this launching with Zombies as a separate free-to-play entity could provide insight as to why so many developers were brought onto Modern Warfare III development teams in such numbers compared with its traditional counterpart.

Further fuelling speculation, a previous article from Insider Gaming hinted that Zombies might return this year as a free-to-play title. Keep in mind, however, that Activision has yet to even tease us about Zombies so any unconfirmed reports and speculation should be taken with a grain of salt until verified otherwise.

Activision recently confirmed rumours about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III being this year’s installment, while also unveiling that players would return to Verdansk for its single player campaign.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will launch across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on 10 November 2023.
